About SCT Training

Learning to build a systems-centered system -- classroom, group, organization, psychotherapy -- requires that we learn about managing ourselves first, so that what we say or do contributes to developing the kind of system we want to work or live in.

This means that systems-centered training begins with training oneself to take up membership – that is, it begins with experiential training in systems-centered methods.

In most open and foundation level systems-centered training events you will encounter training in subgrouping (the core SCT method for relating to differences without targeting, ignoring or excluding them), practice in using systems-centered skills with yourself and orientation to SCT theory. If your interests are in organizational development you will find some events specifically designed for that application, and others which are focused on the foundation of using SCT skills yourself to reduce the restraining forces we all have as human beings which result in less energy being available for our goals.

Several different kinds of open events are available, from one day to 5 day events, to a whole 7 days at the annual SCT Conference, and participants feel free to attend as many or as few as they like.

For those who discover they want to develop increased mastery of SCT theory and methods, SCT Trainers offer a comprehensive training program. Use the links under SCT Training Program in the left hand column of this page to find out more.

Annual SCT Conference offers systems-centered training at all levels, as well as a variety of workshops relating SCT to different contexts.

Telebridge Seminars are held on the SCTRI telephone bridge line; members phone in and ‘meet’ in the electronic space created. This has proven a very rich and vital way for our disparate community to come together to explore both theory and applications.

SCT Workshops are offered in a variety of settings, initiated by SCT Trainers and Practitioners. Most include some theory and experiential work, and many focus on applying SCT in different settings.

Ongoing SCT Training Groups meet regularly, usually weekly or monthly. These groups include orientation to systems-centered theory and methods, and experiential work, which focuses on using systems-centered techniques to build a group within which members can explore their experience.
